01
Local inventory changes the fulfillment model
Shipping each order internationally is different from holding stock in Brazil and dispatching locally. A local fulfillment model requires an inbound inventory plan, a lawful import arrangement and a selling structure appropriate to your business. It should be evaluated against expected demand and carrying costs.
Shopify is the storefront and order source, not a substitute for Brazilian import, tax or invoicing arrangements. Your advisers should confirm those obligations before launch. Gurulog's core role is handling eligible inventory and preparing orders after those prerequisites are in place.
02
Agree which Shopify orders reach the warehouse
Define the order conditions that allow fulfillment to begin. Payment status, cancellations, address changes and fraud review can affect release decisions. Avoid sending every newly created order straight to picking without an agreed rule for orders that are still changing.
Integration requirements are evaluated during onboarding. Align how order details, SKU identifiers, shipping instructions and tracking information move between Shopify, any ERP and warehouse operations. Confirm the required behavior rather than assuming a specific app or connector covers every edge case.
03
Prepare product data and packaging
A clean SKU list should identify variations, barcodes, quantities and any bundles. If a storefront bundle is assembled from several warehouse products, define its components and the stock deduction rule. Packaging dimensions and weights help evaluate carrier options and storage needs.
Branded inserts, gift packaging and kitting can be discussed as part of the service scope. Supply specifications and materials before promising a particular unboxing experience to customers. Different product categories may need different packing or acceptance rules.
04
Plan delivery and customer communication together
The delivery promise shown at checkout should match the agreed dispatch timetable and carrier services. Local stock can support domestic delivery, but transit times still vary by postcode, parcel details and service. Evaluate actual destination data rather than assuming one national delivery speed.
Agree which tracking events the brand receives and who responds to delivery exceptions. Your customer service team needs a clear path for late, damaged or undelivered parcels. Warehouse dispatch is one stage of the customer journey, not a guarantee that every parcel reaches its destination without an exception.
05
Launch with an operational test
Use representative orders to test single items, multi-item baskets, bundles and any special packaging. Check order release, picking information, carrier labels and tracking updates. Include cancellations and returns in the discussion even if they are uncommon at launch.
For a proposal, share monthly Shopify orders, SKU count, storage forecast, average basket size, packaging materials and your Brazilian destination mix. If marketplaces or wholesale customers will use the same stock, include those channels so the inventory workflow is designed as a whole.
